Ryan Alsman
Managing Partner
Ryan started Hurdle in 2023 with the goal of bringing excellent financial planning to early stages businesses. He identified the need for early stage businesses to have strong financial leadership but understands that there may not be a full-time finance need in the business. Ryan believes that Hurdle’s hands-on approach can lead to stronger outcomes for early stage businesses.
Ryan has deep expertise in finance across businesses in a variety of industries, stages and environments. He has held finance roles in large public companies all the way down to early stage venture backed startups. He leverages these experiences to help Hurdle’s clients accelerate growth and maximize profitability.He holds a Bachelors of Science in Finance and Management Information Systems as well as an MBA from Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana.
In Ryan’s free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf and attending Butler University men’s basketball home games. Go Dawgs!

Ryan Jamieson
Senior Strategic Finance Consultant
Ryan has more than 8 years of Financial Planning and Analysis experience across multiple industries. Ryan has spent the last 5 years working with B2B software companies leading financial forecasting, treasury, and board reporting. He has played an integral role in businesses fundraising in his past. He holds a degree in finance from the University of Dayton.
Originally from South Bend, Ryan lives in Indianapolis, with his wife, Sarah. He spends as much time outdoors as he can running, biking, and playing tennis or golf. He is a loyal fan of the Dayton Flyers and the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Kevin Van Ek
Associate Strategic Finance Consultant
Kevin recently graduated from Butler University with a degree in Finance and Business Technology and Analytics. While at Butler, he had the opportunity to intern for an England-based startup, supporting them with attracting investors, developing successful sales tactics, and organizing company data.
Kevin’s coursework and real-world experience allows him to understand what it takes for small business owners to succeed, as well as recognizing the importance of diligent financial planning. He has experience utilizing BI Analytics, SQL, Salesforce, and the entire Microsoft suite in a range of applications, including for financial modeling, creating customer asset listings, and one-off projects for start ups.
In Kevin’s free time, he enjoys traveling to new places, staying athletic by playing volleyball, golfing, watching Chicago sports, and keeping up with Butler basketball.

Robert Boyd
Associate Strategic Finance Consultant
Robert recently graduated from Butler University with a dual degree in Finance and Economics. While at Butler, he gained hands-on finance experience through internships in personal financial advising and corporate financial planning, investment strategies, banking operations, and data analysis. The combination of his coursework and these real-world experiences has helped him develop a strong understanding of financial analysis, strategic planning, and the importance of using data to support key business decisions. Robert brings this expertise, along with his deep knowledge of utilizing Microsoft Excel, financial modeling, and data analysis tools, to support Hurdle’s customers.
In Robert’s free time, he enjoys exploring new places while travelling, staying active in the gym, following sports, and spending time with friends and family. He is also an avid Butler basketball and Ohio State Football fan.
